Devi Sahai Jindal was the eldest of five brothers — alongside Om Prakash, Bhavi Chand, Sitaram and Madan Lal Jindal. This page draws that family as a single branching tree across three generations, and then explains, branch by branch, how the founding enterprise the brothers built together later separated into the allied groups that carry the family name today.
The chart below is the same information as the sections that follow it: the parents at the top, the five brothers beneath them, and their sons and grandsons in the two rows below that.

The five brothers
Devi Sahai Jindal was the eldest. In 1952 he and his brother Bhavi Chand Jindal founded the steel setup in Howrah that became the family's first enterprise — a manufacturing works for Mild Steel, ERW, and Black Galvanised pipes and tubes.
How the founding enterprise divided
Over the decades the business that began in Howrah evolved into several allied groups — the DSJ, BCJ, OPJ and DPJ Groups — each carrying forward its own line of the family's industrial work. The sections below take them one at a time.

A note on names and initials
Members of this family are frequently referred to by their initials. On this site, Devi Sahai Jindal is written in full; where records use DS Jindal or D.S. Jindal, the same person is meant.
